Cross-speaker Anaphora and Dialogue Acts

چکیده

Francez and Berg (1994) introduced the term CROSS-SPEAKER ANAPHORA to indicate reference by conversational participant (CP) B to a discourse entity introduced by CP A. Crossspeaker anaphora is further discussed in (Groenendijk, Stokhof, and Veltman, 1997; Dekker, 1997), where it is noted that the phenomenon is subject to a number of constraints: e.g., it is generally not felicitous for B to follow an utterance by A like (1a) with an unqualified assertion like (1b), whereas modally qualified statements such as (1c) are possible. (Groenendijk, Stokhof, and Veltman, 1997) also note that under the appropriate conditions, a continuation like (1d) may be felicitous.

Dialogue Acts, Synchronising Units and Anaphora Resolution

We present a method for classifying and resolving anaphora in spoken dialogue which relies crucially on the concept of dialogue acts. Our segmentation is influenced by (Clark & Schaefer, 1989) and (Carletta et al., 1997) and shows a high degree of inter-coder reliability. In our model, which is based on (Strube, 1998), the domain from which potential antecedents for both individual and discours...

Dialogue Act Recognition using Reweighted Speaker Adaptation

In this work we study the effectiveness of speaker adaptation for dialogue act recognition in multiparty meetings. First, we analyze idiosyncracy in dialogue verbal acts by qualitatively studying the differences and conflicts among speakers and by quantitively comparing speaker-specific models. Based on these observations, we propose a new approach for dialogue act recognition based on reweight...

Predicting Obligation Dialogue Acts from Prosodic and Speaker Information

In this paper a methodology and preliminary results of a machine learning experiment for correlating intonation patterns and speaker information with dialogue acts are presented. The goal of this work is to assess the extent to which prosodic and speaker data can help to identify obligation dialogue acts within a specific practical-dialogues audio and video corpus in Mexican Spanish. The machin...

Representing Clarification Dialogues in a Speaker/ Hearer Model

This paper shows an extended Discourse Representation Theory (DRT) model which represents clarification dialogue and clarification dialogue acts and relates them to agents’ intentions. Agents’ intentions are linked to the dialogue acts associated with their utterances. The effect dialogue acts have on the speaker and the hearer is translated into an extended computational DRT model and linked t...

Modeling Dialogue Acts with Content Word Filtering and Speaker Preferences

We present an unsupervised model of dialogue act sequences in conversation. By modeling topical themes as transitioning more slowly than dialogue acts in conversation, our model de-emphasizes content-related words in order to focus on conversational function words that signal dialogue acts. We also incorporate speaker tendencies to use some acts more than others as an additional predictor of di...
